FAQ
Common questions
How many drywall sheets do I need per square foot?+
A 4×8 ft sheet covers 32 ft². Divide your total surface area by the sheet area, then add 10% waste — the calculator does this automatically.
How much joint compound and tape per 100 ft²?+
Plan ~5 lb of all-purpose compound and ~37 lineal feet of paper tape per 100 ft² of drywall. Add 15% for ceilings or high-detail rooms.
What screw count should I order?+
About 1 screw per ft² on 16″ on-centre framing (every 12″ on field, 8″ on edges). For 24″ oc framing, screws drop ~20%. Always order a full box extra.
UK plasterboard vs US drywall?+
Functionally similar. UK boards are 1200×2400 mm or 1200×3000 mm; US sheets are 4×8 ft or 4×12 ft. Pick the matching size in the selector above.
Does this include corner bead or insulation?+
No — quantities cover sheets, screws, tape and compound only. Budget corner bead separately at ~1 LF per 10 ft² of wall and add insulation by R-value.
